CONFUSED WITH AMAZON ACRONYMS?
Explained By The Amazon Vendor Central Expert
Amazon does love an acronym which is both confusing and terrifying in meetings. Here is our Glossary of a few of the main terms that take the lid off the mystery!
VC = Vendor Central - the On-Line, self-service Portal. Everything is managed via VC from Content, promotions through to case management and banking. This is your Amazon interface.
Platform - Amazon's website (www.amazon.**) driven by the very complex A9 Algorithm that maximises purchasing behaviour, taking into account many internal and external influences, that change hourly.
EFN = European Fulfilment Network. Amazon's internal Logistics for moving/sharing stock/inventory.
AMS = Amazon Marketing Services - the Pay per Click, bid system - for "on Platform Advertising" (also see AMG)
AMG = Amazon Marketing Group - Invoiced activity designed to drive external traffic to the platform. (see also AMS)
SVS = Special Vendor Services. Essentially a funded Head inside Amazon, managing your brand.
LBB - Lost buy box - when your sales channel isn't managed, and a cheaper price is supplied by a 3rd Party.
REPOOS - Replenish-able Out of Stock - Amazon tries to order from the vendor, but the vendor has no stock to fulfil.
FOB - Freight on Board - Container Stock - when Amazon purchase in bulk and manage the logistics and tax themselves, rather than the vendor.
PEAK - the term used for describing the 4th quarter of the year, October to December when the Sales peak within Amazon, due to the Christmas Period, incorporating Black Friday and Cyber Monday Promotional Days.
VENDOR STATUS - Vendor ranking system from Platinum to Bronze, based upon a number of factors, such as Amazon Sales total and profitability.
Hopefully, this unravels some of the mystery on the basic acronyms and we’ll try and keep this page updated regularly!
